Saba Zia

Saba Zia is an accomplished academic and engineer, currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at The University of Lahore (UOL). Since 2012, she has been a driving force behind the development of future-ready engineers, blending rigorous theory with hands-on innovation.

With a distinguished academic pedigree from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Engr. Zia holds a Bachelor’s in Information and Communication Systems Engineering from SEECS (2007) and a Master’s in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Telecom from MCS (2009). Her early career at NUST’s CEFAR as a Lab Engineer (2007–2010) immersed her in cutting-edge research and technical experimentation, laying the groundwork for her transition into academia.

Before joining UOL, she served as a Lecturer at SEECS (2010–2012), where she began shaping her signature teaching style—dynamic, deeply technical, and student-centered. Her course portfolio spans Digital Logic Design, Embedded Systems (with a focus on STM microcontrollers), Computer Architecture, Signals and Systems, and Verilog HDL, among others.

Beyond the classroom, Engr. Zia has actively contributed to national skill development initiatives. She played a key instructional role in NAVTTC’s Chip Design Training Module, where she taught Digital Design using Verilog HDL and Computer Architecture—empowering participants with industry-relevant skills in semiconductor design and verification.

Known for her clarity, precision, and passion for engineering education, Engr. Zia continues to inspire a generation of thinkers and builders at the intersection of theory and application.
